HOME RENOVATION GRANTS 2022

The grant for renovations in Barcelona will be managed through the Consorci Metropolità de l'Habitatge (CMH) in all municipalities of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, and in Barcelona city, they will be managed through the Consorci de l'Habitatge de Barcelona. During the first half of 2022, calls for grants for renovations of flats and single-family homes will be published. These grants for home renovations can be awarded for improvements to the enclosures and thermal insulation of the building envelope, provided that the consumption of non-renewable primary energy (exhaustible energy source - oil, coal, etc.) is improved. The renovations that qualify for the grants must also achieve an improvement in the initial energy certification.

Calls for grants for works, elevator installation, accessibility improvements and energy rehabilitation (thermal insulation, grants for improvements to enclosures to make them more efficient, elimination of thermal bridges, etc.) are also being published.

Who can apply for these grants?

Anyone who wants to take advantage of them. It's that clear. A while ago it seemed less than impossible to get a grant. Now this has changed and you can really get them. For example, if you have more than one flat in Barcelona city, you can get €21,500 and a rebate on the IBI for five years if you add it to the Borsa d'Habitatge de Lloguer of the Barcelona City Council. I repeat, NON-REFUNDABLE GRANTS FOR APARTMENT RENOVATIONS available to everyone until the funds are exhausted, in the order in which requests are received.

We must be aware of the publication of calls for grants for reforms in Barcelona and be encouraged to request aid for the reform of flats and single-family homes. We must exhaust the funds allocated for this because otherwise they will have to be returned.
