POBLE NOU KITCHEN RENOVATION

KITCHEN REFORM IN BARCELONA, ON THE SEA FRONT OF POBLE NOU

In all our comprehensive reforms in Barcelona we start from the basis that we always try to apply the 3 basic criteria to achieve sustainable reforms that are in line with the framework for action on climate and energy 2030 and the roadmap towards a low-carbon economy. carbon by 2050.

We have been dedicated to the world of renovations for 27 years and have been applying these criteria for more than 10 years when the precariousness of our environment was not yet daily news. Even then we were working with the concept of ECO-EFFICIENCY, promoting environmental sustainability (green construction). and energy efficiency (bioclimatic) in all our renovations, as well as the issue of health at home (biohabitability), long before the appearance of what the Covid-19 pandemic has unfortunately brought to the fore.

At Reformayahorra Group we have a checklist of all the parameters that would ideally need to be met to consider a comprehensive reform totally sustainable. Depending on the parameters that are met, a comprehensive reform that is more or less sustainable, efficient and healthy is obtained.

The owners of this 2003 home wanted to renovate the kitchen by applying the maximum criteria of bioconstruction, bioclimatic and biohabitability (environmental sustainability).

The kitchen was designed as if it were not a kitchen. It was joined to the living-dining room to create a large, versatile space, where the kitchen was not the only protagonist. White kitchen furniture was used to combine it later with decorative elements in natural wood free of VOC's. All this to achieve a large volume of hidden storage. Obviously with all the appliances integrated. The furniture is lacquered in matt white, and the entire kitchen is divided into 60 cm wide units (high and low), except for the The flex-induction hob area was modulated by 90 cm to take advantage of the 2 bottom drawers to place the kitchenware. The doors of the furniture were ordered as "cart" type to improve accessibility for people with reduced mobility. A a cooking column and in the central part a coplanar door was created at the level of the countertop to be able to store the most common appliances at the same level and to be able to use them easily when necessary, without having to have them in sight. All the appliances are highly energy efficient, with the particularity that the hob was made of flex induction, which has only a perimeter limit, allowing you to cook “paellas” without problems. The hob detects the surface in contact with it and only activates this area. The smoke extraction hood is directly connected to the induction hob, which activates it as soon as it is turned on. In addition, the hood has a delayed deactivation until it detects no smoke or odours.

A Neolith brand Calacatta sintered stone top with a silk finish was used as the kitchen counter and front. This broke up the monotony of the predominant white colour. This material is made from a high percentage of recycled glass. .

To separate the hall from the rest of the room, a vertical lattice was designed with an integrated wardrobe made of solid natural pine slats with sustainability certificates and type E1 VOC emissions. The 20 cm deep wardrobe could be used as a shelf and to store shoes at the entrance and all the keys. On the floor of the hall, a esparto mat to enter with shoes and take off your shoes before going to the rest of the house.

A low piece of furniture in the living room measuring 180x40x20 cm was also designed, using the same wood as the lattice and the previous wardrobe, with 2 drawers and an open part where the cables from the TV hanging on the wall run up, hidden through a channel. recessed that we made at the same time as the races for the electrical installation were made.

Finally, the flooring of the large room was finished with Topcret brand microcement and Baxab model, special for floors, in pearl grey.

To all this we must add the green touch with natural indoor plants that improve the quality of the indoor air.

The final result, a zen, healthy and versatile space, and a beautiful, sustainable and biohabitable kitchen.
